About Us

What is Willow Tree Family Farm?

Willow Tree Family farm is a single community organisation dedicated to creating opportunities for disadvantaged people in Shirebrook and beyond. It is based on a small town community farm and has a strong environmental ethos and identity. The activities of Willow Tree Family Farm are diverse, covering animal husbandry to Forest Schools, youth work to mentoring adults & children with low self-esteem and confidence.

Known as a family attraction, a hidden diamond on the outskirts of Shirebrook, Willow Tree Farm attracts hundreds of visitors each year. People come to enjoy Willow Tree Family Farm and this is probably its most valuable physical asset. It is the starting point for what Willow Tree Family Farm is here to do.

The Board of Directors and Management Committee are recruited from local people and people interested in the operations and development of Willow Tree Family Farm and its associated activities. Directors receive no remuneration for their contribution to the Farm but appoint staff as appropriate to manage and run the farm.

2 years after local people campaigned to improve a neglected area of Shirebrook, Willow Tree Family Farm emerged as one of the more successful Community Economic Development projects in town. It’s work and reputation is recognised at a local, town-wide and now county level.
